Three Muses Challenge 24 - IN YOUR DREAMS

It's Ann here and my theme for this week is IN YOUR DREAMS, which could be a dream of something you have always wanted to be or do, or a dream holiday destination, or a different way of life. For those amongst us who like surreal, it might be a dream person or fantastic landscape. Or you might like the idea of illustrating the darker side of dreaming, a nightmare landscape for example, or does IN YOUR DREAMS conjure up a different image for your entirely? I can't wait to see what you will choose.

But just in case you are stuck for a little inspiration here is my IN YOUR DREAMS sample.

As always, any style or any medium is welcomed, and indeed encouraged, so go ahead and enjoy yourself.

Credits for my sample are on my blog.

Three Muses Challenge 21 - Long Ago And Far Away

Hi it's me Ann and this week's theme is LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY. I wonder what that will mean to you, will it be a strange and exotic land, a fairy tale, a famous person, part of your family history or something else entirely?

Just in case you need a little inspiration here is my sample, a tale from Mabel's childhood.

And remember at the Three Muses anything goes so whether you stamp, embroider, make it with fabric, paper or clay, paint it or do it digital we can't wait to see what you come up with. Most of all enjoy.

The Three Muses Challenge - Hair

Our theme this week is HAIR. Remember, anything goes at the Muses. We want to see beautiful hair, ugly hair, big hair, sparse hair – and maybe an outrageous wig or two. The pathway to hair excellence is sometimes STRAIGHT and sometimes WAVY. Hair is a PERMANENT fixture, sometimes FINE and sometimes THICK. Hair is here to stay (except on bald men). Hair is a buzz (cut). Let’s hear it for hair!!

The Three Muses Challenge - Zlightly Zetti

This week the theme is “Zlightly Zetti” which probably means many things to many people! I think that those artists who developed Zetti into such an interesting art form intended it to be fun, where imaginations can run riot. So, enjoy your creative journey into the world of Zetti. Remember, anything goes!

The Three Muses Challenge - Moonstruck

It is already Wednesday in my part of the world!
Our theme for this week is the MOON. No matter how many times we see the moon it fascinates us. When it is full and low on the horizon we stop what we are doing and gasp at its beauty. “When the moon hits your eye like a bigga pizza pie that’s amore” – the lyrics of a thousand songs say it all.
So, show us YOUR moon! We can’t wait to see the many and varied versions that you creative and talented bloggers come up with.

Three Muses Challenge 13 - Charlin Chaplin

Hi it's me Ann, and this week it's my turn to host the Three Muses' theme and I have chosen CHARLIE CHAPLIN.

He is such an icon with his trademark bowler hat, his cane, little moustache and baggy trousers, I hope there will be something there to inspire your creativity.

I have chosen to alter him entirely and I hope this little sample will inspire you to get creative too.

Remember all artistic mediums are welcome so however, and whatever you create with we can't wait to see your works of art.

Have fun.

Three Muses - Give Us a Hand

We've always heard "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". That was the beginning of this piece. You HAVE given us a hand in the form of your kind responses to our thank you message. At the end of this challenge, when all the artists have checked in, we'll put our hands together and join in a standing ovation for all of us who meet here every week!! Have fun. THE MUSES SPEAK

Back in June, three muses timidly decided to start an art challenge blog. We put our heads together (well...as much as we could from Australia to the UK to the US); and, after discussion, we decided we wanted it to be a simple blog spot without fancy bells and whistles, just a place where artists in all media could share their work and offer constructive support for one another. The Three Muses blog has succeeded beyond our hopes. We feel our blog family is the cream of the crop, bringing outstanding art to our challenges weekly. Beyond that, our artists are generous in their support of one another. Taking the time to comment on 40 or 50 entries is no small task, but reading supportive comments on your own effort makes it all worthwhile. So, this is Ann, Bev and Marie taking the time to say THANK YOU!

Challenge 10 - Hats

Hi it's me Ann, it's Wednesday again, and time for a new challenge, and my theme for this week is Hats.

I took the quote of If You Want To Get Ahead Get A Hat literally and here is my sample for you for this week.

I hope it inspires you to create.

Just a quick reminder to say anything goes at the Three Muses, whether you choose paper, fabric, mixed media or digital and the size is totally up to you. The most important thing is that you have fun.

Thank you for joining in each week.

CHALLENGE 9 - ART IN THE ROUND

Bev here! It's Wednesday morning in Oz (and I know Marie is patiently waiting!). Here's my art in the round. There are several layers to this one, first a background, then an overlay of a bit of music, then an overlay of some script, and last of all a lovely lady. The words are from one of my favorite songs, "Circle of Life" from "The Lion King". I hope you all enjoy this challenge. I'm looking forward to seeing what the considerable talents of our "blogsters" bring to it.

Challenge 8 - INSPIRATIONAL PEOPLE

This week our theme is INSPIRATIONAL PEOPLE and my choice is Jane Austen who wrote stories of strong heroines in a time when women had little or no voice. We can't wait to see who your inspirational people are. They don't have to be famous - just someone who has made a difference in your life.
(For credits, see my blog)

CHALLENGE 7 - INCREDIBLE JOURNEY

It's me Ann and, well OK, technically it is still Tuesday here, but hey only just, so I'm posting your next challenge theme.

INCREDIBLE JOURNEY.

Don't you think Alice had the most incredible journey? Falling down a rabbit hole, eating things, drinking things, growing and shrinking and that was only for starters, so I chose Miss Alice for your inspiration this week.

Now let's see where this theme takes you. Have fun.

Challlenge #6 - Word Salad

Bev here. Edgar Allen Poe forgive me, I was in a bit of a silly mood when I created this one. I can only hope you all have as much fun with this challenge as I did. Your entry needs a word or words, expressed any way you wish. We look forward to all the words of wisdom and humor coming this week! ( For my credits, see my blog.)

We're sharing this task, so give us a few days to finish. We hope this will make it easier to exchange comments and information.

The Three Muses Challenge - Surreal

It's me - Ozstuff - and my challenge this week is to create something with a surreal flavour. If I were asked to give a one-word definition of surreal, it would be "unexpected". In other words, anything goes.
For credits, see my blog (Apologies to JD Salinger for playing around (a little) with the title of his great book.

The Karma Award

Susie Jefferson has generously given THE KARMA AWARD to the Three Muses, and of course, we are thrilled to receive it.

Thank you so very much for the honour Susie, however, we feel this award should really go to all the talented and generous artists who participate in our challenges and make the Three Muses challenge blog what it is.

Please visit Susie, a very talented artist, at the 1st Floor Flat you won't be disappointed.

Challenge 4 - Up, Up and Away

Hi it's me Taluula and it's my turn to host the challenge, so this week my theme is UP, UP AND AWAY.

When I thought about the theme for me it meant vintage people and wacky vehicles traveling through the skies and of course that's what you can see in my sample

I hope it inspires you and I can't wait to see what you come up with. Have lots of fun.

(for credits see my blog)

THANKS FOR ANOTHER WONDERFUL RESPONSE

Just a quick note before we post the next challenge theme to say a very big thank you to you all for such a wonderful response to Challenge 3 - WILD THINGS.

Ann, Marie and Bev.

CHALLENGE #3 -- WILD THINGS

It's me---Bev. I'm hoping this challenge proves to be great fun. There are so many ways to interpret wild things. Most, but not all, my wild things here have four legs! I'm anxious to see what wildness this way comes. Have at it, my blog friends!!

The Three Muses Challenge - Doors

This week’s theme is “Doors”. My sample picture began with an interesting door and a black and white pen sketch of a Victorian lady in distress. I think I got carried away and ended up with something like a cover for a trashy novel of that era. A door can be the backdrop for so many different feelings and ideas. Last week our Mona Lisa pictures took us in many wonderful directions. This week I know that “doors” will have the same effect and I can’t wait to see what you have for us.

A HUGE THANK YOU FROM THE MUSES !!

The Three Muses would like to thank you all for the astounding response to our very first challenge. We hoped to offer a venue for art of all types, and an atmosphere of generosity and support. We accomplished that beyond our greatest hopes, as evidenced by the broad diversity of responses, and the generous comments posted from artist to artist. We're looking forward to all the challenges to come! Given our time zones, when Bev is having her morning coffee, Ann is having lunch and Marie is getting ready for bed. This means one of us is usually available at any time, should you have questions. Again, THANK YOU, and a big standing ovation to all of you!

CHALLENGE 1 - MONA LISA

We are so excited to welcome you to our very first Three Muses challenge and we hope you like our first choice of theme.

Is it because Mona Lisa has one of the most famous faces in the world, or is her enigmatic smile the reason she so often features in altered art?

Whatever the reason Mona Lisa, or her enigmatic smile, is our very first challenge theme.

The size and medium are your choice, it's your interpretation of the theme we are looking forward to seeing.

Don't forget to post a link to your blogs so we can all see your artistic creations.

So without further ado your inspiration this week is Mona Lisa by Taluula. Have Fun.
