As we mark a bit over a year and a half since we started the Three Muses, the three of us want to reaffirm our purpose, which is to share art of all types and to be supportive of our fellow artists.   We believe you appreciate that Three Muses is not meant to be a vehicle for advertising in any way, shape or form, and it is our intent to enforce that standard.   We appreciate the loyal followers to our challenge blog, and we hope our intent is supported by all.

THREE MUSES #85 - NATURE'S CREATURES

What a rare treat it would be to see these magnificent creatures "in person". but I've come to understand as close as I'll ever get is an episode of  "Jack Hanna's Wild Adventures" !    I can't wait to see all the creatures that will appear this week for our challenge!             ...... Bev

My lovely blogland friends may I say how touched and humbled I have been over the past couple of weeks by the many prayers, kind words and good wishes you have sent my way  during our family's sad loss.   It has meant such a great deal to know you were there for me.

I just received word from Ann that her mum passed away peacefully this morning with her family around her.   She thanks everyone for their prayers, kind thoughts and support.

Three Muses - Book

Books are nearly always among the gifts in our family at Christmas time.   An afternoon spent in a library is a special time for me.   I will always be grateful to my teacher from Grades 1 through 7, who instilled in me a fascination with the written word..... and I'll always be grateful to my father, who gifted me with an impish sense of humor.   I put both to use here.  I have to admit I had a bit of fun fashioning this book, naming it and giving the author an unlikely name.   I hope you enjoy my little play on words!

Marie has just kindly pointed out to me I've posted this on Monday night instead of Tuesday night.  Yikes!   My daughter and grandson are visiting and things are a bit chaotic at my house.  Coupled with the holiday, I am totally out of sync with what day it is!    I know you all will catch up with me sooner or later!

SAD NEWS

We're sorry to report that Ann's mother is gravely ill and the family has been told the end is near.  As we come together with our families for our holiday,  I'm sure we will all send prayers and thoughts to Ann's family in their sad time.   We know you will understand her absence for a time.   Thank you all for your kind support.

THREE MUSES 81 - ODD COUPLE

Hi it's me Ann and my challenge to you for this week is to create an ODD COUPLE.   You could mix and match with animals and people to create something very odd, or give your old grandma and grandpa a steampunk makeover OR may be you will create a very interesting  ODD COUPLE that will take us all by surprise.

However, if you are a bit stuck on where to start, here is a little sample for you inspiration.

Remember any medium and any style is most welcome and all we ask is that you have lots of fun!

The Three Muses Challenge - Blackbirds

The theme this week is "BLACKBIRDS".   Ravens and crows rarely receive a good press.  They are noisy and boisterous and annoying but,  for some reason, they are popular as subjects in art pieces!  It seems that everyone has at least one blackbird in her stash so let's see yours!!

THREE MUSES 75 - SHOW TIME

Hi it's me Ann and this week I have chosen SHOW TIME as my theme.  For me that means a few cracking good tunes from one of my favourite musicals whilst I go about the mundane chores of keeping house and garden.  If I do a few high kicks whilst in charge of the Hoover  well who can blame me!

THREE MUSES CHALLENGE #74 - HATS

Marie's "wings 'n things" challenge is a hard act to follow. I hope as many of you will find "hats" something you'd like to art about. I opted for a bit of a change in pace, and used a couple of my sketches with borrowed bodies and hats. I'm looking forward to seeing all the hats that show up this week!
